Is rust covered under warranty?
Ford's New Vehicle Warranty provides important coverage for the original bodywork of your vehicle against rust corrosion.
Specifically, if any part of the vehicle's original bodywork experiences perforation by rust corrosion during the Ford New Vehicle Warranty period, the affected panel(s) will be repaired or replaced free of charge by any Ford Authorised Repairer.
It is important to understand what 'perforation' means in this context: it refers to a hole that penetrates completely through the bodywork. This perforation must be caused by corrosion originating from the inside or underside of the panel, and it must be a result of faulty manufacture.
Please note that this warranty coverage does not apply if the rust corrosion is caused by external influences. Examples of such external causes include damage from an accident, issues arising from a prior repair procedure, or exposure to elements like sand, salt, stones, hail, chemicals, or industrial fallout.
Furthermore, the term 'bodywork' within this warranty has a specific definition and does not include all parts of the vehicle. Items that are not considered 'bodywork' for the purpose of this rust warranty include road wheels and attachments such as bright trim, bumpers, chassis rails, suspension components, exhaust systems, mouldings, and hinges.
This coverage is designed to address rust perforation issues arising from manufacturing defects on the core body panels during the warranty period, ensuring your vehicle remains in excellent condition.
