How do I connect Apple CarPlay to SYNC® 4A?

Seamlessly integrate your iPhone with Ford's SYNC® 4A system using Apple CarPlay. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for connecting your device, enabling voice control, touchscreen interaction, and steering wheel command of your favorite apps.

Apple CarPlay allows you to control select applications from your iPhone directly through Siri, your vehicle's touchscreen, or the steering wheel controls. The following steps will guide you through connecting your iPhone with Apple CarPlay to your SYNC® 4A system.

If your phone is not paired:

1. Ensure your vehicle is safely parked and running in a well-ventilated area.
2. Press the Vehicle icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
3. Tap Phone, then select Add Phone.
4. On your iPhone, go to Settings, then tap Bluetooth.
5. Select your vehicle's name from your iPhone's discovery list. A Bluetooth pairing request with a PIN will appear on your iPhone.
6. Confirm the PIN matches the code on your SYNC screen. Tap Yes when prompted.
7. On your iPhone, select Pair. Tap Allow when "Allow Contacts and Favorites Sync?" appears to download contacts.
8. After a few seconds, "Use CarPlay with SYNC 4?" will appear on your iPhone. Select Use CarPlay.
9. On your SYNC screen, tap Enable when "Would you like to enable CarPlay?" appears. "Connecting to Apple CarPlay" will then display, and Apple CarPlay will launch.

2. Press the vehicle icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
3. Tap Settings, then select Phone List.
4. Touch your applicable iPhone from the displayed list.
