How does the Keyless Entry System work?
Experience the convenience of the Keyless Entry System (Passive Key) in your Ford vehicle, which allows you to lock, unlock, and start the engine easily just by carrying the key with you. Learn how to configure settings and important precautions for a smooth and safe journey.
Keyless Entry System Overview
The Keyless Entry System allows you to manage your vehicle without ever taking the key out of your pocket or bag. Sensors detect the key’s signal when you are within approximately 1 meter of the vehicle, providing a premium and more efficient experience.
How to Use the System
- Unlocking the Doors: When the key is within range, simply touch the sensor on the back of the front door handle and pull. The system will unlock the door immediately.
- Locking the Doors: Touch and hold the sensor on the outside of the door handle for approximately 1 second. The system will lock all doors.
- Starting the Engine: Once the key is inside the cabin, you can start the engine by pressing the brake pedal and then pressing the START / POWER button.
Customizing the Settings
You can enable or disable the system and customize the unlocking pattern (such as unlocking only the driver’s door or unlocking all doors at once) through the settings menu on the SYNC touchscreen.
Important Considerations and Limitations
To ensure the system operates at peak efficiency, avoid factors that may interfere with the signal, such as:
- Placing the key too close to metallic objects or other electronic devices.
- Low vehicle battery or a weak battery in the remote key.
- Areas with high-frequency signal interference or the key being out of range.
