How does the Auto High Beam System Work?

Get to know the Auto High Beam (AHB) system, an intelligent technology from Ford that automatically adjusts between high and low beams. This feature ensures the clearest visibility in the dark while protecting other road users from glare, making your nighttime journeys more convenient and safer.

How does the system operate?

The system relies on a camera sensor mounted behind the center of the windshield. This sensor continuously monitors ambient light conditions, including the presence of other vehicles and environmental lighting

When do the high beams turn on and off?

The system automatically activates the high beams when it detects that external light conditions are sufficiently dark and no oncoming headlights, preceding vehicle taillights, or street lighting are detected. Conversely, the system immediately switches off the high beams when such lights are detected to prevent interfering with the visibility of other drivers

How do I know the system is active?

When the Auto High Beam system is ready or currently operating, a specific status indicator light will illuminate on the instrument cluster to confirm its operation.

Can I turn this feature off?

Drivers can choose to enable or disable the Auto High Beam feature through the vehicle's settings menu, which is typically accessible via the in-vehicle touchscreen or information display.
