Where can I find my Ford's Vehicle Identification Number?

Locate your Vehicle Identification Number on the driver's side door, windshield, or your Ford account online. Learn alternative VIN locations including the Ford app and SYNC.

Important: The letters "I", "O", and "Q" are not included in a VIN to avoid confusion with the numbers 1 (one) and 0 (zero).

Locating Your VIN

Select the method you are using from the drop-down options below to learn how to obtain your VIN.

Note: If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the third drop-down option. 

The Ford App

  1. Log in to the Ford app.
  2. Tap the Vehicle icon to go to the Vehicle dashboard.

    Note: If you have multiple vehicles, choose one from your garage. 
     
  3. Select Vehicle Details under the Settings section.

Ford Account

 Log in to your account on the Ford Support website. 

The VIN will be displayed below an image of your vehicle.

  1. Tap the Settings or Home icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select General.
  3. Press About SYNC.
