How to install Child Safety Seats?

To ensure the safety of your children while traveling, Ford has equipped certain vehicle models with an ISOFIX anchorage system. This system allows child seats to be securely and directly attached to the vehicle's structure.

The ISOFIX system is an international standard that ensures correct child seat installation and minimizes errors that can occur when using seatbelts. ISOFIX child seats feature connector arms that attach directly to dedicated, factory-installed anchorage points in your Ford vehicle.

Before and during the installation of a child seat using the ISOFIX system, please carefully review and strictly follow the installation instructions from both:

  • Your Ford Owner's Manual: This provides detailed information regarding Ford-recommended child safety systems, the locations of ISOFIX anchorage points, and Top Tether anchorage points specific to your vehicle model.
  • The installation manual provided by the child seat manufacturer: This ensures you follow the correct installation procedures for that specific child seat model.

When selecting an ISOFIX child seat, please consider your child's weight and height, and ensure that the chosen seat model is compatible with your Ford vehicle, especially certain semi-universal child seat types.

Most ISOFIX child seats are used in conjunction with a Top Tether strap or a support leg to prevent the seat from tipping over or rotating forward in the event of a collision. Top Tether anchorage points are marked within the vehicle.

Correct installation, following the recommendations from both sources, is extremely important for this safety system to operate at its full potential.
