What is Ambient Lighting and how do I use it in my Ford?

Ambient Lighting is a customizable interior decorative lighting feature available on some Ford vehicles. It typically uses LEDs to add subtle color and mood to the cabin. Please note that this feature is not available on all models or trims; you should consult your owner's manual to determine if your vehicle is equipped with Ambient Lighting.

Here’s how you can typically access and control it depending on your SYNC system.

SYNC™ 2

To access Ambient Lighting settings:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Vehicle.
  3. Select Ambient Lighting.

You can then touch your desired color and use the scroll bar to adjust the intensity.

To switch the feature on or off, look for and press the power button icon within this screen.

SYNC™ 3

To adjust Ambient Lighting:

  1. Touch the Settings icon in the Feature bar at the bottom of your touchscreen.
  2. Touch the Ambient Lighting icon. (You might need to swipe to the next screen to find it.)
  3. Tap your desired color option.
  4. Select your preferred intensity level.

SYNC® 4A

To switch Ambient Lighting On or Off:

  • From the Settings menu, press General.
  • Press Ambient Lighting.

From here, you can switch Ambient Lighting on or off. (Depending on your vehicle, you may also find options to change the color and intensity on this screen).
