Where can I find Information on airbags?

Understand the vital role of your Ford's airbags - Supplementary Restraint Systems (SRS) - including front, knee, side, and side curtain airbags. Learn their deployment mechanisms and importance in enhancing your safety during various collision types.

Airbags, known as Supplementary Restraint Systems (SRS), are designed to enhance the protection offered by seat belts.

  • Front Airbags: These deploy rapidly during significant frontal or near-frontal crashes, cushioning your movement within milliseconds. They are not designed for minor frontal, rear, side impacts, or rollovers.
  • Knee Airbags: Located under the instrument panel for the driver and within/under the glove box for the passenger, knee airbags activate based on crash severity. They can deploy independently of front airbags.
  • Side Airbags: Positioned in the front seat backrests, side airbags inflate during specific side crashes or rollovers, deploying between the door panel and occupant for enhanced side-impact protection.
  • Side Curtain Airbags: Found above the front and rear side windows, these airbags deploy during significant lateral or frontal angled crashes for head protection. They are not designed for minor lateral/frontal, rear impacts, or rollovers.
